Renewal and cancellation

How monthly renewal works, how to stop a service, and what happens to the machine and its data afterwards.

Servers renew monthly. There is no minimum term, no early termination charge and no setup fee to recover, so stopping a service costs nothing beyond the period already paid.

Renewal

An invoice is issued ahead of each renewal date. With a registered card, it is charged automatically; otherwise it waits for you in the client area. The renewal date of each server is on its service page.

Cancelling

  1. Open the service page for the server in the client area.
  2. Submit a cancellation request, choosing the end of the current period.
  3. If the option is not available for your service, open a ticket with the service identifier and the date you want it to stop.

A cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have paid for. The server stays yours and reachable until then.

Careful

Take your data off the machine before the end date. Once the service is terminated, the drives are wiped for the next customer and there is no copy on our side.

Before the end date, in order

  • Copy out data, configuration and TLS keys.
  • Move DNS records to their new destination, and lower the TTL a day ahead so the change propagates quickly.
  • Cancel or repoint anything that talks to the old IP address: monitoring, backups, cron jobs, allowlists on third-party services.
  • Check nothing else depends on the machine: a mail relay, a VPN endpoint, a database replica.

Moving to another Bullionet server

Order the new server first and run both for the overlap. There is no setup fee on the new one, so the only cost of an overlap is the days you keep both, and it turns a migration into something you can roll back. Our team helps with the transition if you ask in a ticket.
